Monster Rally on Surf Sister

I stumbled upon this album whilst 'working' and found it to be the perfect companion to a slight hangover. Tracks such as Drousy Waters from the Crystal Ball EP seem to alleviate the slight twinge of pain that occasionally creeps its way forward from the Cerebellum to the Temporal Lobe.

The artwork for the cover was inspired by old travel advertisements, informed by the simplicity of vintage ads. Monster Rally hand screened the art for the 7", and each of the jackets are subtly different, which is something wonderful about screen printing - the ability to create multiples while still being able to see the artist's hand. The artist also notes that "it was important for me to try to do as much as possible by myself for this EP, from creating the music itself, to the artwork, to the printing, to gluing all the jackets and finally to numbering all the jackets - hopefully that's what makes this EP special."

Initially I found that the music sounded similar to Tommy Guerrero but the hazy journey continued and Monster Rally's mix of dreamy loops and cocktail bar tunes would be best served up prior to an after surf nap.

To sample these amazing tunes go to http://monsterrally.bandcamp.com/ where purchasing the latest album is easy utilizing a name your own price checkout, I wont disclose what I paid as I would not want to influence your decision
